From: Rich Holtzman Subject: US reissues Date: Thu, 25 Jun 1998 21:26:20 -0400 I was asked to update the list on the US reissues. I am sure just about everyone of you already own these but maybe a good time to replace some of that vinyl. This Mortal Coil (all 3 records) Dead Can Dance "A Passage In Time" The Birthday Party "Hits" His Name Is Alive "Stars on ESP" + Nice Day EP M|A|R|RS "Pump Up The Volume" (3 tracks listed but 5 appear on the CD, different versions mixes. Remember the US version of the song is slightly different because of some sample clearance issues, I think I like the UK version better, my 2 cents) Lonely Is An Eyesore finally available in the US... Bauhaus "In The Flat Field" also finally available in the US (though it was available on vinyl for a while) Like the UK version it has 9 bonus tracks. The earlier singles (Axis catalogue numbers and all). If I am correct the only band to record for 4AD and Axis? Also a promo only CD will be done for in-store play in the US. Sorry this will be a little tough to get to you all. It has no exlusive tracks or anything special. it is called "kiddy's got four fingers" PUP1. limited to 2500. Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 17:09:20 -0400 From: Rich Holtzman Subject: Kiddy's got four fingers Kiddy's is simply a compilation of material culled from the nine reissues we are doing in the US. All 3 TMC A Passage in Time Hits Eyesore Stars on ESP Pump Up The Volume In The Flat Field I am going to get the finished CD soon. rich Date: Wed, 8 Jul 1998 02:10:31 -0700 From: Jon Subject: reissues Now even thought the manufacturing is US and the distribution is ADA, these releases look in every sense to be full-on 4AD independent releases. They even use the original 4AD catalog numbers. And thankfully the prices are reasonable. Is this going to mean that 4AD is on their own legs to release stuff in the US? Will this mean releases for upcoming Pixies, His Name is Alive, etc? Date: Sat, 18 Jul 1998 22:49:00 -0400 From: Jeff Keibel Subject: kiddy's got four fingers What is "kiddy's got four fingers"?? "kiddy's got four fingers" is the latest promo from 4AD US and serves as an overview of the July US reissue campaign as well as a few tasters of new releases. It is a limited edition of 2500 and bears the catalogue number PUP 1. Here is the tracklisting for this 70 minute 4AD sound opus that covers a little something from 1980 to the present: 1. THIS MORTAL COIL - Song To The Siren 12. THE HOPE BLISTER - Dagger 13. THIS MORTAL COIL - Late Night 14. M|A|R|R|S - Anitina (The First Time I See She Dance) 15. BAUHAUS - Terror Couple Kill Colonel 16. M|A|R|R|S - Pump Up The Volume 17. BAUHAUS - Telegram Sam Date: Wed, 22 Jul 1998 01:13:57 -0700 From: Jon Subject: new items and old ones... Second...we got it a slew of 'new' reissued 4AD albums today. I say new, as they are not the domestic releases from a few weeks ago like TMC, Lonely..., MARRS, DCD.... These are true import UK pressings. The difference is that many of them have a sticker on the case that specify the catalog number and say "please reorder as CAD.... from Vital". So I take it that Vital is doing the export of the old catalog to the US. Also the prices are at dometic rates. Most at $14.99. We got in the likes of all the WGP, His Name Is Alive, Nooten/Brook, Tarnation etc.... My main confusion is that we are carrying the new releases too, but all at high import prices $22.99 to $27.99. So why is the back catalog cheaper? Did 4AD reduce their costs of older titles? So now sitting in the bin for instance is HNIA "Stars on ESP" the import from UK at $14.99, the US domestic from WEA at $12.99, and the recent US reissue with the "Nice Day" EP for $15.99. At the same time the new "Ft. Lake" is a whopping $27.99!!! Go figure.
